Engineering Consultant
Development of consumer products from Industrial Design concepts to production manufacturing using HPs' Solid Designer software on HP 9000/735 Unix workstations. These included design & development of a monitor for Apple Computer in which I was lead engineer responsible for design coordinating with hired consultants and Apple personnel, a major revision of their Performa series computer in which my responsibility was for design and prototyping of finished parts and an emissions gas analyzer for Summit Analyzers. Responsible for prototyping of all projects for verification using such methods as stereo lithography and RTV molding as well as more conventional CNC machining and fabrications. Development from concept to production and debugging of projects at overseas manufacturer as well as assisting assembly manufacturer in the U.S.A. for Pocket Arcades series by Sega of America. Bench marking of various workstations and solid modeling software. Recommendation and contract negotiations with the preferred vendor for purchase of the selected systems and supervising installation of computer systems. Recommendation, installation of local networking of computer systems and performed duties of Network Administrator. Created and maintained Document Control Department.
Development of toy products from the age of 0 through 12 from Industrial Design concepts to production manufacturing. Product packages included complete documentation, product design schedules, tooling schedules, prototypes, functional specifications, design drawings and BOM's. Five projects completed, for approximately $750,000 in annual sales. Received an A.I.G.A. Certificate of Excellence for product innovation. Supervised vendors in product design from prototyping to debugging of production at overseas facilities in Hong Kong. Implemented and maintained 3D CAD system used in the development of product and prototyping (from cad database built to print verification of design; included stereo lithography, soft tooling and machined parts). Created and maintained Document Control Department. WORLDS OF WONDER
Responsible for directing the activities of 12 employees in the design/drafting function. Monitor design for accuracy and completeness of required documentation for injection molded parts, mechanical/electrical assemblies and PCB's. Design and layout of complex injection molded drawings and assemblies both manually and using AutoCAD 10. Completed four projects for approximately $1 million in annual sales. Implemented departmental standards and procedures. Member of the Change Control Board.
